American interior designer Kelly Wearstler is the epitome of California glamour. In her quest to bring to the world her unparalleled understanding of interiors and design, she continues to lead the way in revolutionising our understanding of modern American glamour and design as an all encompassing lifestyle.

Growing up in Myrtle Beach, California, her mother’s career as an antique dealer had an influential impact on her love of design and from an early age she fell in love with fashion upon accompanying her mother to auctions, flea markets and thrift stores. Her hunger to make a life for herself in the field of design saw her attend Massachusetts College of Art in Boston, attaining her bachelor’s degree in Interior and Graphic Design. After a time in the film industry and an initial trial period in production and set decoration she founded her own design firm, Kelly Wearstler interior Design, in 1995. Working with Hollywood’s elite property developers, her first of whom would become her husband, early on in her career meant that Wearstler got to work on both personal and commercial projects on a grand level and has continued to work with favoured clients ever since who seek her innate talent and keen eye for elegant and courageous design.

Her ability to bring an artful blend to each task is exceptional. Each creation is unique yet there’s always a signature thread recognisable to Wearstler who combines the understated with over-the-top, a playful contemporary with the charm of classic glamour all while always exuding sophistication and luxury. Her most famous projects to date have included the Avalon Hotel in Beverly Hills, the Viceroy Hotels and Resorts with locations in Palm Spings, Santa Monica and Anguilla, The Bergdorf Goodman Restaurant in New York and some of the world’s most astonishing homes from Manhattan to LA. Her unique approach has attracted a covetable celebrity client base including Cameron Diaz, Ben Stiller, Cher, Elton John, Christina Aguilera, Mercury Records and Gwen Stafani.

At just 49 she has published four books, has overseen the opening of her own home-furnishings boutique at Bergdorf Goodman’s, created her own ready-to-wear fashion line, collaborated with some of the world’s most notable homeware brands such as exclusive bedsheets for Sferra and a line of wall-treatments for F. Schumacher & Co and launched an exclusive line for Harrods. However, in fine-tuning her art she now focuses on jewellery and accessories alongside her indisputably beautiful furnishings and homeware all of which is showcased and sold at her lush boutique in Los Angeles.

Her brand is every evolving with no sign of plateau and continues to attract and entice both loyal lovers of the Kelly Wearstler aesthetic and new fans the world over. In essence, whatever she touches turns to gold. Wearstler is an authority on contemporary design and a test maker of our time. Whether it’s projects of a more personal nature or larger collaborations of a commercial level her work continues to highlight the sensations of California cool and pave the way in the interior design and architecture industry.
