Wall & Keogh is one of Dublin's most prolific and popular specialty tea houses. Owned by passionate arbiter of teas and coffees, Colin Cunningham who found his love of the trade on a tea plantation in Vietnam who has since devoted himself to the creation of the best brews in town.
Becoming a your very own tea connoisseur while at Wall & Keogh is half the fun and upon deciding which tea to delight in while sitting amid this hipster haven is not your typical or easy feat thanks to the ample selection on offer. With over 150 blends from China to South America, staff are on hand to guide you with their abundant knowledge of each blend and it’s benefits and health purposes.
Located in Portobello, it’s somewhat off-the-beaten track when it comes to cafés and destinations written about in the predictable city guides. But here within lies one of Dublin’s best kept secrets. It’s got a loyal local following that is unfaltering due to it’s captivating atmosphere and reliable service. Yet it’s allure is so strong as to attract out-of-towners to the mix who come to sample and take home some of the incredible range of teas and treats (the carrots cake is a big hit).
Whatever you settle upon is complimented by the edgy and raw interiors that lend themselves to the quintessential set who love nothing more than a chill-out hour or two on a weekend morning to catch up on some reading or hang out with friends and those with laptops, who, working for themselves crave that mid-week pick-me-up; a much welcomed delight from the wearisome ways of working from home.
To date, the only one thing wrong or amiss with this tea lover’s paradise is that there's too many choices.. although that's perhaps what keeps such a loyal band of customers always wanting one more Wall & Keogh hit.
